I understand this is something that would not traditionally appear on SFTL, but I thought everyone should know that the new Sigur Ros album is absolutely gorgeous.
This song is just so beautiful and heart-wrenching, despite not being able to understand the Icelandic. The string build-ups, the soft piano, and the yearning in Jonsi’s voice all make for an extremely emotional listening experience. Do yourself a favor and put this on as you lay down to sleep - find yourself being taken away with the grandeur of the production. Just don’t be surprised if you find yourself recalling a stirring memory and shedding a tear or two.

RIP: Donna Summer, at 63: Donna Summer, the Queen of Disco, died this morning after a battle with cancer. She was 63.
Summer was a 5-time Grammy winner who shot to superstardom in the ’70s with iconic hits like “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff,” and “Bad Girls.” Her reign continued into the ’80s, with “She Works Hard for the Money” and “This Time I Know It’s for Real.”
From TMZ:
We spoke to someone who was with Summer a couple of weeks ago … who says she didn’t seem too bad. In fact, we’re told she was focused on trying to finish up an album she had been working on.
Summer is survived by her husband, Bruce Sudano, their two children — Brooklyn and Amanda — and her daughter, Mimi, from a pervious marriage.

Anamanaguchi and Dr. Dog played at Northwestern today.
Amazing way to spend my Sunday night and procrastinate on my Stats problem set. Both played such solid, fun sets in our student center. This was a highlight; I love the harmonies in the verse and the nonsense, inventive lyrics.
